    Culture is not abstract; it should be perceptible and understandable. The course starts from the side, from near to far, follow the order from hometown -- China -- the world. Culture is a practice, not only to see and hear, but also to do to truly understand. Cultural exploration is not only in the classroom, museum exhibitions, cultural heritage inspections, and archaeological sites visits are all beneficial supplements. This semester's courses are carried out around our "hometown" Beijing. As the capital of China, Beijing has a history of three thousand years of city building and nearly nine hundred years of capital building. Since the Tang Dynasty, Beijing's status has been rising from a border city to a secondary capital and then to the capital of the empire. Now Beijing also preserves a relatively complete ancient city planning style. The planning of Beijing reflects the highest achievements of ancient Chinese city planning. The course combs the construction and development of Beijing from physical geography to human geography, recognizes palaces, gardens, ancestral temples, etc., introduces the central axis of Beijing, and answers the question why Beijing has become the political center of China for 900 years. 文化不是抽象的，应该是可感知、可理解的，课程从身边出发，由近及远，遵循家乡——中国——世界的顺序。文化是一种实践，不仅要看到，听到，必须做了才能真正了解。文化探索不止于课堂，博物馆展览，文化遗产考察，考古遗址参观都是有益的补充。 本学期的课程围绕着我们的“家乡”北京开展，北京作为中国的首都，有三千年的建城史，近九百年的建都史，唐代以来北京的地位不断上升从边陲城市到陪都再成为帝国的首都。 现在北京还保存着比较完整的古代城市规划风貌。北京城的计规划体现了中国古代城市规划的最高成就，课程从自然地理到人文地理，梳理北京城的建设和发展，认识宫殿、园林、宗庙等，介绍北京中轴线，回答为什么900年以来北京成为中国的政治中心。 Eligible Students: G3-G5 Maximum Number: 20 Time: Monday 15:45-16:45 Club Location: A206 Club Leader: Ms. Xia Ranwei (Guest Teacher) Club Fee: 2230RMB/season Teaching Language: Chinese
