    What is MUN? The Model United Nations is a concept activity during which students pretend to be delegates of specific countries in special forums of the United Nations. It is role play but they have to do the grunt work too. For example, they have to learn how to draft a real Resolution (which is a document which states actions that member countries wish to take about certain issues). They must also learn to be persuasive (through the lobbying process, which means that they must convince other delegates to support their resolution). Finally, they must learn to make persuasive formal speeches in front of an assembly of peers (to garner positive votes for their resolution). With experience, some students become Student Officers and lead the conferences. What we do? Our club members meet each week and under the mentoring guidance of two senior students, they work at developing those skills in order to be the best delegate they can be in conferences that they choose to attend. This year, the two Senior Club presidents are Cilinia KIM and Daniel KIM, who are both students of DP1. What conferences? Our Senior club attend three conferences during the two Club seasons. The first one takes place in November and is held in Singapore. It is called THIMUN (The Hague International Model United Nations). It is the biggest, longest and most challenging conference for our delegates and also the best to help shape students into mature, confident speakers. They always come back ‘more’. The second conference is actually a Junior conference which takes place in December at the British School of Beijing (BRITMUN). Our Grade 10 students attend as Student officers (Presidents and Assistant Presidents) and the Grade 9 students attend as delegates. The last one that we attend takes place in February/March and is held at the International School of Beijing. The Beijing Model United Nations is also a challenging conference and our students are usually already experienced when in attendance, so it often a chance to showcase the mature, experienced delegate or student officer that they have become. Due to the current world situation, this year, our delegates will attend conferences virtually, hence still having the opportunity to learn and interact with delegates of schools around China and the world. 什么是模拟联合国？ 模拟联合国是一种概念活动。学生在模拟环境中扮演联合国特别论坛上特定的国家代表。即是角色扮演但学生需要准备很多工作。例如，学习如何起草一份真正的决议(指成员国希望就某些问题采取的行动)，还须具备说服他人的能力 (通过游说来争取其他代表支持其决议)。最后，还要在一众议员面前发表正式演讲(为决议积极争取选票)。随着经验的积累，一些学生成为学生官，并领导会议。 俱乐部活动是什么？ 俱乐部成员每周上一次课，两位高年级的学生帮助俱乐部成员提高相关技能，以便在所选择参加的会议中能成为最好的代表。 参加哪些会议？ 俱乐部每年两个赛季共参加3个会议。第一个会议是每年11月在新加坡举行的THIMUN。 对俱乐部成员来说，这是规模最大、时间最长、最具挑战性的一次模拟联合国会议，也是能够帮助学生成为自信的演讲者的最佳时机。第二个会议是每年12月在北京英国学校举办的BRIMUN, 这是一个初级模联会议。10年级的学生将作为会议学生官(主席，主席助理)，而9年级的学生则作为代表出席此次会议。最后一次会议是2月或3月将于北京顺义国际学校举行。北京模拟联合国是一个具有挑战性的会议，通常我们参会的学生代表已经具备了丰富的经验，因此它也是彰显学生走向成熟的机会。基于当前的国际形势，今年我们将参加线上会议，因此我们仍有机会与中国以及世界各地的学校代表共同学习和互动交流。
