The Expatriate Center (TEC) is made up of a group of actively engaged Shanghai Expats. It is a non-profit organization that works with local government to provide unique services for expatriates to understand, cope, adapt and thrive in their new lives in Shanghai!


BACKGROUND

•Thousands of foreign expatriates and Chinese returnees are now calling Shanghai home
•They have to adapt to a new way of life and therefore face multiple challenges


THE EXPATRIATE CENTER

• Established in 2014, Shanghai Family Life Services Center is a non-profit organization (NPO) registered in the Civil Bureau of Changning District with the approval of the government
•The Expatriate Center (TEC) was launched in 2017 as one of the key services of Shanghai Family Life
•TEC aims to help expats to “build a home away from home”


CORE SERVICES

•Living in Shanghai: Offer informational services to meet basic needs such as education, housing and healthcare & help expats integrate by building communities
•Working in Shanghai: The only NPO that is able to offer a direct window for foreigners’ work permit application within its center, professional consultation services for employment policies, personal tax and business-related queries such as company registration, as well as career guidance, to help expats develop their careers in their respective professions
•Family in Shanghai: Conduct a wide range of special events and regular activities such as Family Days, marriage courses, parenting classes, mother-to-mother support groups, to strengthen family bonding and values
