This is a street map of the inner city of Beijing, decorated with illustrations of iconic buildings and silhouettes of workers, pedestrians, and animals, including a camel caravan. It was illustrated by American artist John Kirk Sewall. The map is divided into three different coloured regions: Tartar City, Imperial City and Forbidden City, and South End of Beijing. The buildings are labelled in both English and Chinese. In the upper right corner, there is a compass with the name of the publishing house, Beiyang Publishing House. It highlights areas of particular interest to tourists, including sightseeing spots, train stations, hotels, the Young Men's Christian Association, and a street identified as "good for shopping."
