The intriguing collaboration of Sam Barker and Andreas Baumecker has already produced some mesmerizing results. Touching upon techno, house, trance, broken beat, IDM and dub styles, their clear intent is to throw away the rulebook and write their own.

Baumecker has been resident DJ, booker and a key member of the Berghain family, appearing on the label Kompakt from 2002. Sam Barker, is a builder of a sizeable collection of analogue hardware encouraging improvisation, moving to Berlin in 2007.

The Barker & Baumecker story naturally centers around Berghain and the Ostgut Ton label. The pair worked together not only as musical partners, but also concert co-organizers. Their regular Leisure System events continue to bring new forms of dance music to Berlin's attention. And the nexus of these two ardent gearheads obsession is a joint studio located right next to the techno mecca.

If you'd only heard Barker & Baumecker's debut album, Transsektoral, one of the most celebrated releases in 2012, would you know it was produced by a couple of hardware obsessives? Anyone who saw the Ostgut Ton duo at work in studio or on Boiler Room, though, can attest to the unfathomable jumble of machines that goes into their sound.

With their new LP, Turns (NOV. 2016), the duo is invited by dART to tour China from Thursday to Sunday. “It’s what I wish people would play at a certain time on Monday morning or sometime in the afternoon on Sunday,” says Baumecker.

自然而然，Berghain也成了Barker & Baumecker很有意思的故事中心，二人在这里不仅是音乐伙伴，也定期举办着非Techno常态的活动系列Leisure System，在柏林推动多样化风格的dance music。而将这两位上瘾硬件控绑在一起的studio，也在这座Techno圣殿的不远处。

    他们的首发专辑” Transsektoral”于2012年面市，因其音色的超然深度与广度成为了同年最广受赞誉的唱片之一。如果你之前听过这张唱片，你能想到它背后的制作人是一对儿超级机器发烧友吗？任何看过他们的studio或者此前在Boiler Room演出现场的人都能证明，他们演出所用的那堆纷繁复杂迷人眼的机器绝非任何为人熟知的“制作人之选”。

    四年之后带着重新界定了电子乐和跳舞音乐边界的LP Turns (NOV. 2016), Barker & Baumecker由dART邀请在中国巡演，从星期四到星期天。正如Baumecker所说，“这就是我们希望可以在星期一早上或者有时星期天下午放的歌。”
