Description

Agriculture is central to African development, currently generating 40 percent of gross national product (GNP). It constitutes 40 percent of Africa's exports and 70-80 percent of employment.

African countries have vast resources particularly naturally grown crops for producing high quality products for trade in the international market. But historically, this has not happened and there has been a focus on exports of raw commodities rather than finished goods.

In this event, we will focus on made-in-Africa products in the agribusiness industry. Come and learn about the example of South Africa with the top 10 agricultural exports between 82% and 90% of the total agricultural exports to China between 2011 and 2015.

Grape wine, Oranges, peaches; macadamia nuts, grapefruit, edible nuts and crayfish are the most exported products.
