A Background to the Production

The Wonderful Wizard of Oz is an American children's novel written by author L. Frank Baum, originally published by the George M. Hill Company in Chicago on May 17, 1900. It has since been reprinted on numerous occasions, most often under the title The Wizard of Oz, which is the title of the popular 1902 Broadway musical as well as the iconic 1939 musical film adaptation starring Judy Garland as Dorothy. In 1995, Gregory Maguire published the novel Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West, which was adapted into the Broadway musical Wicked.

A Guide to the Production

Dorothy Gale lives on her farm in Kansas with her Aunty Em and Uncle Henry and of course her dog Toto. After running away from home, she is swept away from her farm during a tornado to a magical land of Oz. In this enchanted land she embarks on a quest with her new friends to see the Wizard who can help her return home. With the help of Scarecrow, Tinman and Lion will Dorothy make it back to Kansas? Or will the Wicked Witch of the West punish her forever?
