Join CK and the Chaoyangmen Culture Center for the Lao Beijing Chinese Culture Day - it’s like all the traditional parts of a temple fair without the crowds! And not only will we have many vendors selling products inspired by traditional Chinese culture for you to enjoy, but also workshops happening all day where you can learn more about Chinese culture!

We’ve put together a really interesting selection of product and service vendors at the market. Gift-giving season is approaching, and many of our vendors sell unique items that make the perfect gift or souvenir of Beijing, such as art work, calligraphy, jewellery or folk crafts. Been searching for a place to have an English TCM consultation? Come by and talk to the experts at the market! Want to see a variety of folk handicrafts and try your hand at them? Come and meet our skilled crafts vendors!

We'll have vendors selling a variety of delicious snacks, including tanghulu (fruits covered in toffee) and traditional zhajiangmian (noodles).

11.15-11.45 - TCM for Autumn talk (free of charge). This thirty-minute introduction to Traditional Chinese Medicine will explain the basic principles of TCM and give you some tips on how to prepare for autumn the traditional Chinese way!

1-2pm - Make Monkey King figurines out of glutinous rice ‘clay’ (88RMB per person). This traditional toy on a stick has been sold at markets and fairs all over China for hundreds of years. This workshop is suitable for kids and adults alike!

2.15-2.45pm - Fengshui for home, happiness and health (free of charge). This thirty-minute introduction to home and office Fengshui will give you some simple tips to help improve your life and luck by following the basic tenets of Fengshui.

3-4pm - Chinese Knotting (88RMB per person). Learn how to make some traditional Chinese knots. These make lovely gifts and are attractive and auspicious at the same time. This workshop is suitable for kids and adults alike!

How to get there: Take a cab to Neiwubujie (内务部街). It’s best to get out at the west entrance to the hutong (which is one way) on Dongsi South Street (东四南大街) and walk up the hutong to prevent blocking up the road. The Chaoyangmen Culture Center is about 100m into the hutong on the left side if walking from the west entrance. Alternatively, take the subway to Dengshikou. Come out of exit C and walk to your right. Neiwubujie is the third hutong on the right.
