ArchitectureTour | Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University, Suzhou

Program

Xi’an Jiaotong–Liverpool University  is located in the Suzhou Higher Education Town. The design of its Central Building was inspired by the famous Taihu stones unearthed near Suzhou city. Taihu stones are an essential element in traditional Chinese gardens and have been a favourite of Chinese scholars. The porous nature of the stones are translated into voids and spaces inside the building, with an aim to facilitate interactions and allow a series of sustainable design features. We will be touring the Central Building, designed by Dr. Andy Wen, Global Design Principal of Aedas and the Department of Architecture building.

7:30                 Pickup in central Shanghai location (Xintiandi)
10:00               Arrival at XJTLU Central Building by AEDAS
10:00-10:10     Greetings, introduction by Davide Lombardi
10:10-10:30     Presentation (PPT format) by David Wei
10:30-10:40     Q&A
10:40-12:00     Tour of Central Building - Walk through the campus to the South Campus

12:15-1:15     Lunch at University Restaurant

1:30                 Visit Department of Architecture
2:15                 Depart for Shanghai
