Vegans of Beijing

About Vegans of Beijing:

Who we are:

-    Vegans of Beijing is a group of both local and foreign volunteers who are committed to spreading the vegan message in Beijing. Our aim is to make living a plant-based lifestyle as easy and accessible as possible. Through our events and activities, we hope to continue growing our community of like-minded and conscious people.

What we do:

-    We organise community engagement activities that aim to start conversations about veganism, let the city know that there is a demand for vegan options in Beijing and bring the community together. We host “Vegan Outreach Dinners” at non-vegan Western restaurants who are hoping to add vegan options to their menus. At our “Vegan Discovery Dinners”, we take our guests to try the seldom known options at vegan/veggie Buddhist Chinese restaurants in the city. Our most recently launched event, in collaboration with Camera Stylo, is “Vegan Film Night”, where we screen films and documentaries with a vegan message, followed by a Q&A and discussion session.

     Why we do it:

-    We want to let the world know that it is possible to eat a diverse range of delicious foods that do not come from animals. Being vegan doesn’t mean eating salad and rice every day! In fact, these days you can eat everything you are used to eating, just the vegan version! We want to make living a vegan lifestyle in Beijing as easy as possible. We show people where to find great food in addition to building a supportive community to help more people go vegan.

About Mosto:

Mosto opened in June 2008 in the renowned Nali Patio, a haven in the heart of Beijing Sanlitun's buzz. Mosto partners Executive Chief Daniel and General Manager Alex had been dreaming of opening a restaurant together since they first collaborated in Miami's multi-award winning restaurant Cacao with notorious chef Edgar Leal.

With a trendy South American kitchen by chefs Daniel Urdaneta and Richard Castaño, and funky wine list and music by Alex Molina, Mosto lives by one simple guideline: restaurants should never intimidate. They're for savouring, enjoying, and unwinding.

The set meal for the event consists of five vegan tasters from Mosto's new plant-based menu: Tomato Gazpacho, Aubergine Mousse, Tofu Ravioli, Vegetable Tagine, and Berry Crumble. The price for the tasting menu is set at 288rmb and includes a glass of wine.
