Oxford mathematics professors Sam Howison (https://www.maths.ox.ac.uk/people/sam.howison) and Martin Bridson (https://www.maths.ox.ac.uk/people/martin.bridson) will be in Shanghai to give a talk on how mathematics apply to our lives on a daily basis. Professor Howison is also the current Head of Mathematical Institute at Oxford University.

Wherever you look, you can find mathematics. The fundamental ideas of symmetry, continuity, convexity underpin our understanding of the universe at scales from the cosmic to the atomic. There is no area of human activity or natural science that is devoid of it. Professor Martin Bridson and Professor Sam Howison will uncover some of the mathematics you may never have realised surrounds you.
