Most people have watched acclaimed director Christopher Nolan's feature film "Inception" and the unique sounds of the British band "Coldplay" are easily recognized by million fans so are the heated online discussions initiated by Demis Hassabis and Wang Sicong, the offspring of the founder of "Wanda Group".  But what most of their fans don’t know is that all of them graduated from the same university: University College London.

Established in 1826, University College London is one of the world's leading multidisciplinary research universities and named together with Oxford and Cambridge  as one of the UK G5 super elite universities.

这所成立于1826年的英国高等学府，与伦敦帝国理工学院、伦敦国王学院一样，虽然是“学院”的称呼，但是其实与牛津剑桥一起列为英国G5超级精英大学。

Even though the faculty now has several prominent Chinese alumni such as the afore mentioned Wang Sicong, UCL is still less known among the general public in China but considered an insider tip for people who look for elite education. Perhaps this would be different if they would know that the University bolsters impressive 32 Noble prize winners amongst it's alumni, who range from spiritual leaders such as Mahatma Ghandi to poet Tagore or Japan´s first prime minister Itō Hirobumi.

除了校友王思聪之外，伦敦大学学院在中国还没有那么出名，但它的校友里有32名诺贝尔奖得主，还有知名校友如：圣雄甘地、诗人泰戈尔和日本第一任首相伊藤博文，还有今年3月份大热的AlphaGo的创始人Demis Hassabis得米斯·哈萨比斯。

Most recently one of it's prominent alumni, Dennis Hassabis, gained attention by creating the artificial intelligence (AI) “AlphaGo” which narrowly defeated the current chess world champion in a landmark battle. He founded DeepMind together with another alumni, Shane Legg, whom he met during their master course at UCL. In 2014 Google bid $ 625 million for DeepMind, which only had 50 staff at that time. 

AlphaGo的发明者Demis Hassabis得米斯·哈萨比斯毕业于伦敦大学学院的计算机科学与认知专业，他和校友谢恩 · 莱格（Shane Legg）在英国共同创立了人工智能初创企业DeepMind，这家50多人的公司在2014年被谷歌以6.25亿美元收购。

In 2015, UCL welcomed President Xi Jinping of the People’s Republic of China to the opening ceremony of the UK Confucius Institutes and Confucius Classrooms Annual Conference. Xi was welcomed by Professor Michael Arthur, UCL President & Provost.

2015年10月22号习主席在访英期间，专程出席了伦敦大学学院孔子研究所开幕仪式，伦敦大学学院校长麦克亚瑟(Michael Arthur)致欢迎辞（下图右）。
