New Year's Celebration Gala with Joy of Music

7:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 19, 2019

Please join us to celebrate New Year with distinguished artists, musicians and music enthusiast students. They will play pieces representative of various periods. This is a community event which is supported by the generosity of the participating artists and performers who come together to perform pro bono. Their commitment to support the development of our alumni community is an inspiration to us all. Proceeds of ticket sales are used to support venue related expenses and Project Kickstart and other charity work sponsored by Yale and Columbia Alumni Clubs. Thank you all for your generous support of our community in Beijing.

朱亦兵

大提琴家

朱亦兵，中国音乐家协会理事，室内乐学会副主席，国家大剧院管弦乐团特邀首席。自幼随父朱永宁教授学习，为法国大师让德隆关门弟子，巴黎国立高等音乐学院一等奖毕业，1986年在日内瓦成为首位重大国际比赛获奖的中国大提琴家。旅居瑞士21年，担任瑞士巴塞尔交响乐团首席大提琴，客座担任德国巴伐利亚广播交响乐团首席大提琴。2004年回国创建朱亦兵大提琴乐团，在国内五百多所社会机关及院校举办公益演出，连续三年举办了以“超级大提琴”命名的全天候中国古典音乐狂欢节。

Chu Yi-Bing was the last student of Maurice Gendron, the great French master at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique in Paris. In 1986, Chu was the prize winner of the 42nd Concours International d’Exécution Musicale in Geneva, becoming the first Chinese cellist ever to win a prize in an important international Cello competition. In 1987, Chu graduated from the Conservatory in Paris with a Premier Prix. From 1989 to 2004, Chu was principal cellist of the Basel Symphony Orchestra in Switzerland. He was also the guest principal cellist of the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra from 1999 to 2004. Chu Yi-Bing Cello Ensemble has played for several leaders of China and many other nations. In 2016, 2017 and 2018, Chu Yi-Bing planned and organized SuperCello, the first Full-Day Classic Music Festival in China.

钢琴演奏家

波兰音乐家玛达莲娜·芭彻丝卡曾与旧金山交响乐团、中国国家交响乐团、澳门乐团合作，也曾与小提琴家约夏·贝尔、奥斯卡与格莱美奖获得者谭盾多次合作。她曾在中央音乐学院，纽约国际键盘音乐节、纽约大学、香港演艺学院讲学。她在曼尼斯音乐学院获得本科、硕士学位，在曼哈顿音乐学院获取博士学位。她是哥伦比亚大学音乐表演项目主任和教授，同时担任纽约Kosciuszko基金会肖邦钢琴比赛的艺术总监。

Polish-born pianist and harpsichordist Magdalena Baczewska [ba-CHEV-ska] is concert artist, educator, recording artist, producer, and administrator. Having performed as soloist with the San Francisco Symphony, China National Symphony, and Macao Symphony, among others, she has also shared the stage with violinist Joshua Bell, and enjoys an extensive collaboration with the Oscar and Grammy Award-winning composer Tan Dun. She has appeared in major concert halls around the world, and as a masterclass artist in the Beijing Central Conservatory; International Keyboard Institute and Festival (NYC); New York University; Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, among others. Baczewska holds Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from Mannes College The New School for Music and her doctorate from the Manhattan School of Music. Baczewska is the Director of the Music Performance Program and Lecturer in Music at Columbia University, as well as Artistic Director of the Kosciuszko Foundation Chopin Piano Competition in New York. Baczewska is a Yamaha Artist.

金文彬（耶鲁音乐学院校友）

钢琴家

金文彬2015年以优异成绩毕业于耶鲁大学音乐学院，并且获得由耶鲁大学颁发的最优秀毕业生奖学金。从2016年起，金文彬开始在北京鼎石学校担任表演艺术中心副总监一职，并且在苏州大学音乐学院担任钢琴系客座教授。荣获奖项包括：第六届上海国际钢琴比赛最高奖、匈牙利李斯特协会年度录音大奖等。金文彬登上过纽约林肯表演艺术中心、华盛顿肯尼迪表演艺术中心、国家大剧院等世界知名音乐厅。他的个人第一张独奏专辑：《李斯特全套大练习曲》由拿索斯Naxos唱片公司出版。

Graduating with a Master of Music and Artist diploma degree from Yale School of Music in 2015, Graduating with a Master of Music and Artist Diploma Degree from the Yale School of Music in 2015, Wenbin Jin received two of the most prestigious school awards: the Elizabeth Parisot Prize for Best Pianist and the Yale School of Music Alumni Association Prize for the most outstanding graduating student. Since 2016, he has been serving as Associate Director of the Performing Arts Center at Beijing Keystone Academy. He has won many major top prizes, including the China Shanghai International Piano Competition and the China Golden Bell National Piano Competition. Wenbin Jin has performed in prestigious venues, such as the Lincoln Center, the JFK Center for the Performing Arts, and the Chinese National Center for the Performing Arts. In addition to solo activity, Mr. Jin is also well-known as a collaborative pianist and chamber musician.

莫灵风（耶鲁音乐学院校友）

小提琴家

莫灵风作为室内乐演奏家，是卡尔米亚弦乐四重奏的创始成员，演奏并录制了美国作曲家约瑟夫·萨默的许多作品。作为一名独奏家，莫灵风定期出席日内瓦音乐节和吟游诗人音乐节，在中国、韩国、泰国及全球各地的音乐会和音乐节上演出。作为巴德学院的招生官，莫灵风致力于提供优质音乐教育。莫灵风毕业于巴德学院和耶鲁大学，拥有音乐和亚洲研究学位，熟练掌握普通话和韩语。

A keen chamber musician, Shawn was a founding member of the Kalmia String Quartet, which performed and recorded numerous works by American composer Joseph Summer, and can be heard on Parma and Albany Records. As a solo artist, Shawn makes regular appearances at the Geneva Music Festival and the Bard Music Festival, concerts and music festivals in China, Korea and Thailand, and other engagements throughout the world. As an admissions officer for Bard College, Shawn has had firsthand experience of the challenges associated with providing access to quality education, musical and otherwise. A graduate of Bard College and Yale University, Shawn holds degrees in both music and Asian Studies, and speaks Mandarin and Korean.

莫漠（耶鲁音乐学院校友）

大提琴家

作为当今一位活跃的中国青年大提琴演奏家，莫漠已经在北京国家大剧院、纽约斯堪的纳维亚音乐厅、巴黎枫丹白露宫殿等多地成功举办了个人独奏音乐会。近年莫漠合作过的乐团有中国国家交响乐团、北京交响乐团、浙江交响乐团、美国波士顿亚裔青年交响乐团，在谭盾先生、谭利华先生、张艺先生、肖鸣先生的指挥下，莫漠的演奏均获得了极大成功。 Mo mo (Yale School of Music)

Hailed by the Weekly Music magazine for his “Impeccably logical but also vivid, emotional playing”, Mo Mo has already established himself as one of the leading cellists of his generation. In recent years, he has collaborated with China National Symphony Orchestra, Beijing Symphony Orchestra, Zhejiang Symphony Orchestra and Greater Boston Asian American Youth Orchestra, under the baton of Maestro Tan Dun, Maestro Lihua Tan and Maestro Yi Zhang. Mr.Mo has performed in venues such as Carnegie Hall,KennedyCenterinWashingtonD.C., Beijing Concert Hall,NationalCenterfor Performing Arts inBeijing,JordanHall inBostonand theFontainebleauPalaceinParis. Mo Mo is a prize winner at international competitions such as the 2016 Schoenfeld International String Competition inHarbin,China, and the 2017 Koussevitzky Young Artist Award inNew York. He is also a recipient of the Aldo Parisot Prize fromYaleUniversity, where he studied with Mr.Aldo Parisot.

李博（耶鲁音乐学院校友）

中提琴演奏家

美国耶鲁大学音乐硕士，香港科技大学工商管理学硕士（MBA）。曾多年在亚洲首屈一指的香港管弦乐团担任中提琴联合首席，经常与国际顶级音乐大师同台演出，其中包括马友友，吉尔-沙汉姆，阿什肯纳齐，温格洛夫等。他在全国首演了全套巴赫六首无伴奏大提琴组曲（中提琴版），并随后举办全国巡演，广受好评。他也是多个国际重大音乐比赛的获奖者，并多次接受境内外媒体专访。

Bo Li, has received his Master of Music Degree at Yale University, School of Music, and MBA at Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. He has been served as Co-Principal Viola at Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra for many years, where he had great opportunities to work with world-renowned musicians, such as Yo-Yo Ma. Gil Shaham, Vladimir Ashkenazy and Maxim Vengrov. He gave the China premiere of the complete viola version of the Bach Unaccompanied Cello Suites in 2005, which was positively received by local media and audience. He has also a prize winner of several International Music Competitions, and has been interviewed by domestic and international media and magazines.

王一彪 (哥伦比亚大学及茱莉亚音乐学院在读学生)

王一彪，古典多乐器演奏艺术家。2005年起学习长笛与钢琴。王一彪数度在国际舞台上进行表演，曾多次在卡内基音乐厅，林肯中心演出。他在美国公共电视网 (PBS) 和英国广播公司 (BBC) 等电视台节目中多次亮相。荣誉包括：美国国家青年艺术基金会最高荣誉，纽约长笛俱乐部青年音乐家大赛一等奖。2015年，加入美国国家青年交响乐团 (NYO-USA) ，在中国巡回演出，与指挥家迪图瓦和钢琴家李云迪同台演出。王一彪从事于音乐教育和艺术管理，曾担任茱莉亚音乐学院预科管弦乐团导师，现担任乐团总管理。王一彪就读于哥伦比亚大学音乐与商业管理系和茱莉亚音乐学院长笛系。

Yibiao Wang is a classical multi-instrumentalist. Mr. Wang began playing the flute and piano in 2005. He has made numerous international performances, including frequent performances at venues such as Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center. His past accolades include the YoungArts Finalist award (highest distinction) and first prize in the New York Flute Club Young Musicians’ Contest. Yibiao has also made numerous appearances on television shows on networks including PBS and BBC. Yibiao joined the National Youth Orchestra of the USA in 2015, performing alongside Charles Dutoit and Yundi Li on the orchestra’s sold-out tour in China. In addition to performing, Mr. Wang is an educator and arts manager. He previously served as Orchestra Mentor in the Juilliard Pre-College Division, and now serves as Orchestra Manager.
Mr. Wang currently studies music and business management at Columbia University, and flute at the Juilliard School.

宋婧宜(哥伦比亚大学在读学生)

宋婧宜是音乐家玛达莲娜·芭彻丝卡的学生，目前在哥伦比亚大学学习数学与计算机。宋婧宜四岁开始学习钢琴，作为天津市两名获奖者之一获全额奖学金赴新加坡国家初级学院学习，期间多次获全国比赛金奖，并在新加坡、澳大利亚、美国等地演出。高中毕业后她考入墨尔本大学、墨尔本音乐学院双学位项目，后转入哥伦比亚大学，在音乐表演项目演奏钢琴、打击乐。

Jingyi Song is a student of pianist and harpsichordist Magdalena Baczewska and is currently a Mathematics-Computer Science major at Columbia. Jingyi started playing the piano at age 4. She has performed extensively and has won top prizes at competitions in Singapore, Australia, and the U.S. Jingyi was a recipient of the prestigious full scholarship offered by Singapore Ministry of Education, and was accepted to the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music and Melbourne University dual degree program after high school. She entered Melbourne University to study mathematics and computer science, and later transferred to Barnard College of Columbia University. In addition, she studies percussion with New York City Ballet Orchestra principal timpani Ian Sullivan. Jingyi plays piano and percussion with many ensembles in the Columbia Music Performance Program.
