The Chinese Chollywood Dream: What's Hot, What's Not, and What's Next in Film
Join us to sip tea in a Chinese courtyard and discuss the evolving Chinese film landscape and its relationship with Hollywood with industry veteran Bennett Pozil.

Adding 7,500 cinema screens every year, China is the world’s second largest movie market by total box office sales, and Oscar-winning director Ang Lee predicts that Chinese-language cinema will earn more revenue than Hollywood in ten years.  While Western producers are looking East, the Chinese are looking West as well.  Dalian Wanda bought the 338-theater AMC Entertainment in the US and China Film  Group has invested millions in upcoming Hollywood productions Seventh Sons and Warcraft.  Helping us make sense of Chollywood’s rise and the East-West cross pollination is industry veteran Bennett Pozil, who has structured the financing of over a hundred motion pictures, including Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon; Hero; Fearless and Lost in Translation (卧虎藏龙、英雄、霍元甲(2006)、 and 迷失东京).  Mr. Pozil, a banker for over 20 years, serves as an Executive Vice President at East West Bank where he manages the Bank’s Corporate Banking Group. As part of his role, Mr. Pozil oversees the development of the Bank’s Entertainment Lending sector in the United States as well as in China. Prior to joining East West Bank, Mr. Pozil served for 11 years as the Managing Director of the Los Angeles office for Natixis, the French Banking Concern.  Mr. Pozil sits on the Board of Asia Society Southern California.
