During the event, you will:

• Experience a live performance of GuZheng;
• Familiarize yourself with its history;
• Enjoy this traditional Chinese instrument；
• Learn basic playing skills;
• Take photos with the instrument.

GuZheng, also known as Chinese Zither or Chinese Guitar, is a very typical traditional Chinese string instrument with over 2500 years’ history.  As the epitome of Chinese classical culture, GuZheng is famous for its delicate sounds and elegant structure. Actually, Guzheng’s history is so long that it has become the ancestor of many Asian zither instruments. In many other listeners’ eyes, GuZheng is just like the country China: beautiful, mystical and fascinating. As GuZheng's perfect partner, tea ceremony is usually performance along with GuZheng's melody. 

Our Speaker: Beatrice Wang

As the president of traditional instruments orchestra in University of Nottingham Ningbo China, Beatrice has been learning GuZheng for over 8 years. She has a rich experience of public and commercial performance. She believes the reason why GuZheng is so attractive is it not only expresses the musician’s soul, but presents an original natural beauty to the audience. She believes everyone would find his or her own world in Guzheng’s sounds.
