Francesco Sisci: The Vatican’s New Role in International Affairs

The Vatican is emerging as a new major player in international politics. With its recent role as mediator between America and Cuba, Russia and Ukraine and the European Union and its refugees, can it play a similar role for Beijing? Is Beijing willing to build such relations? Has Beijing acknowledged the new role of the Vatican? All these issues are new for China and also the present international order. Join Francesco Sisci, a senior researcher at China Renmin University who recently interviewed the Pope, as he discusses the Vatican's foreign policy, its attitude towards China and its growing role in international politics.
