Teens of China & Inspire Citizens
Annie He - Teens of China
As the Chinese Integration Specialist at an international school in Beijing, Annie facilitates and develops the Chinese historical, cultural, and literacy experiences from PreK-3 to Grade 12.
When co-designing and co-developing lessons and projects linked to standards, she is always conscious of thinking frameworks--wondering how do we best learn? How do we think about thinking?
As a literacy blogger, Annie’s deepest passion lies in communicating clearly to parents about the “why and how” behind teaching philosophies and the power of education for good. She continues to reach out to Chinese parents to share innovative learning that addresses the importance of well-rounded literacy and global thinking.

In this experience-driven workshop, participants will explore deep reading strategies for comprehending and analyzing fiction and non-fiction texts with the eventual goal of sharing and applying these tools themselves, with their children or students.
Physical activities and practice with sample texts will be utilized to investigate the particulars of what good readers do, what good readers notice, and what good readers see to develop rich and authentic reading skills.
In the end, however, the essential goal of this workshop is to provide pathways to deeper reading to build a lifelong love of literature.
This workshop is designed for parents, teachers, and middle/high school students. Instruction is in English with support in Mandarin.
