This time, we are pleased to have Peidong Wu (WG 96)and Xiangji Zhang (WG 00) who serve as CFOs of AirMedia and BlueFocus respectively. For those who are interested in launching a career in financial management for public companies, this will be a very precious opportunity to get some insights.



Bio of Richard Peidong Wu

Chief Financial Officer

Mr. Richard Peidong Wu has served as our chief financial officer since June 1, 2014. Mr. Wu is an experienced finance and investment professional, with more than 18 years of experience working with and advising companies in China in technology, media and telecom sectors (“TMT”). Before joining AirMedia, he worked as the head of legal & compliance at the Greater China Division of Nokia Solutions and Networks. Prior to that, he was the chief financial officer of Vimicro International Corporation from 2011 to 2012. From 2006 to 2011, he was managing director at Dragon Bay Capital, a China-focused investment advisory firm specializing in private placement, pre-IPO turnarounds, pre-auditing, and investor relations. He also worked as the chief financial officer at several other companies, including China Natural Gas, Inc., China Medicine Corporation and AlliancePharm US LLC, as well as the executive vice president of MeetChina.com, the finance director at Motorola, Inc and an investment banking associate at Lehman Brothers. Mr. Wu started his career as a senior legal counsel at Beijing Bei Fang Law Offices. He received his MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, a master of arts in criminal justice from Indiana University, a post-graduate law diploma from the Chinese University of Political Science & Law. Mr. Wu is a licensed attorney in China.


Bio of Xiangji (Shawn) Zhang
Chief Financial Officer
Mr. Xiangji Zhang has served BlueFocus Communication Group (300058) as Chief Financial Officer since April 2013 and as a director of BlueFocus since September 2014; oversaw BlueFocus’ M&A, investment, finance and accounting-related activities, and legal matters; directly led and executed the “go global go digital” core corporate strategies. From 2011 to 2013, he worked at a RMB fund affiliated with Hillhouse Capital as investment director, led a number of the fund’s investments in various sectors .From 2009 to 2010, he worked as CFO of Lakala Group , a leading Chinese e-payment platform, led upgrading of financial management capabilities aligned with corporate strategies, and helped bring in Legend Holdings as a major shareholder. From 2005 to 2009, Mr. Zhang joined Alliance Bernstein’s buy-side equity research team as one of the founding members of the fund’s China office, and served as associate VP. He joined PricewaterhouseCoopers as senior manager in 2002 after PwC’s acquisition of Arthur Andersen’s China practice and was an important member of PwC’s transaction services team, led a number of financial due diligence projects for cross-border M&A transactions; From 1993 to 2002, Mr. Zhang worked in Arthur Andersen’s auditing division as audit manager for many overseas IPO projects including Netease and other Chinese companies.
 
Mr. Zhang holds a Bachelor’s Degree of Economics from Peking University and a MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. He became a member of the Chinese Institute of Certified Public Accountants in 1995.
