K12 Future Education Trends

The great leap in technology has helped mankind gone so far and reshaped our lives in so many ways over the past few decades, but one thing that remained not changing is education! What would the future be like for our children with what’s already happening now? What are some challenges educators/parents need to address now in order to prepare them for the future? It would be fascinating to bring in different perspectives from educators who have been practicing innovative education in their own specialized area with forward-looking insights.

JOHN MARK MCBRYDE

Executive Director of Origins Education

John is is an IB educator with over 25 years of experience as Head of School in five international schools in Asia and has served on the EARCOS and ACAMIS Boards and as an education consultant to the Chinese Ministry of Education. His passions include School Design, Learning Technologies, Community Service and the Arts. He has been recognized with awards for service to education from the Council of International Schools and the Beijing government.



Wang Shi, Assistant to Principal at Tsinghua University

Wang, Shi (Shiny) is Academic Principal of Beijing Kaiwen Academy, who also serves as the Assistant to Principal at Tsinghua University High School and Director of College Counseling. Member of NACAC & InternationalACAC, (PD Committee member), Secretary-General of Beijing Academy for College Counseling. He was one of China's first on-campus counselors to pioneer college admission counseling for students.

He is widely recognized by Top schools in the United States as China's expert in college admissions counseling and international education. Furthermore, he has written articles on China's international education that were published in many public media including the New York Times.




Terry Qian, Ed.D. 龙 博士

 Dr. Qian has served as Headmaster for Peide School, Associate Director for Beanstalk International Bilingual School, Director for International Education at Communication University of China, President for Yihai Education Group, Division Principal for International school of the Peninsula, and Clinical Professor at Loyola Marymount University. His expertise include comparisons and integration between Chinese and Western education, 21st century skills oriented school design, curriculum development, teacher training, parent-school alliance building, experiential and interdisciplinary learning, cross-cultural communication, and advisory on study abroad.



Matthew JaskolYale SOM 08’

Founder and Program Director of Pioneer Academics


Matthew Jaskol believes that passionate young scholars, if properly guided, can reach remarkable heights through their intellect, imagination, and determination. He is Founder and Program Director of Pioneer Academics, a Delaware public benefit corporation that connects high school students from 23 countries in a virtual space to conduct research under the mentorship of US college faculty. His leadership in providing deep learning opportunities to students across geographic and socio-economic boundaries led to his receiving a Life Achievement Award from the Institute of Peace and Development in February 2016. Mr. Jaskol earned his MBA from the Yale School of Management in 2008.



Jade Choung

Educational Technologies Coordinator at X school


Jade Choung grew up for twelve years of her live in Long Beach, California, and moved to Fargo, North Dakota, until she left the United States to travel and join the international teaching community. She holds an Associate’s degree in Information Technology and B.S. in English as an Second Language from Minnesota State University Moorhead. She will complete her MEd in Curriculum and Instruction with a concentration in Educational Technology Leadership in June 2017. Her interest in education was influenced by her own education and the story of her parents as Khmer Rouge refugees. She has hands on experience in technology integration in education.
