OSG (TAN ENG HAN 13917034000)

OSG (TAN ENG HAN 13917034000)

OSG (stands for Overseas Singapore) is a non profit social initiative with a mission of building a sharing culture among Singaporeans overseas and at home.

OSG recognizes the importance of a strong Singapore external economy in nation building and believes that the core group of Singapore youths needs to be equipped with both broad and deep understanding of the international markets. OSG links overseas Singaporeans with Singapore youths through different programs and dialogues over a broad-based social platform.

BACKGROUND

The global geopolitical and economic landscapes are changing rapidly, especially within the Asia Pacific region. We felt that, as a small nation-state with extremely limited natural resources, Singapore will need to harness the talents of every Singaporean in preparing the nation for the challenges ahead. The Committee of Future Economy, in their 2017 Report, has positioned our current generation as the “pioneers of the next generation”, where “together, we will build a Singapore of global relevance; a Singapore that can ceaselessly reinvent herself and grasp new opportunities.”

As Singaporeans who have worked extensively overseas, we felt particularly heartened that the Singapore government has regarded the “deepening and diversifying our international connections” as a key national strategy (Strategy #1). We felt we have the relevant knowledge and experience to share with fellow Singaporeans at home, and we believe that only through constant sharing can knowledge and understanding be translated to ideas, innovation and actions for the benefit of our next generations.

In addition, we also believe strongly in the spirit of “Singaporeans Guide Singaporeans”. More than a century ago, when our forefathers left their home countries to Singapore in search of work, we believe they benefitted from the guidance from earlier immigrants. Similarly, we should conjure the same “Singaporeans Guide Singaporeans” spirit this time round, now that we are the “pioneers of the next generation”.

Join us in building a stronger sharing culture among Singaporeans at home and abroad!

Hi Singaporeans in Beijing!

Spend your Saturday among fellow Singaporeans and learn, share and grow with us.  Great SpeakersAwesome Venue and Delicious Singaporean food awaits you!!

In OSG Talk#2, we heard from 4 Sg interns on their experience in China and how it differs from their experiences back in Singapore. I find it now very interesting to have some Sg interns and their supervisors on a panel discussion to relate how the whole Intern-Supervisor experience have be over the past months.

This is a moderated panel session with participation from interns and their supervisors from NTU and NUS.  We hope that through this session, students in Singapore who are considering internships especially in China are able to prepare themselves better for a successful endeavor here.  New interns now in China will be able to learn from these exchanges and if necessary make changes to their mindset and behavior for a successful endeavor here.

As usual, lots of games and prizes to be won, and Koo Kee is graciously sponsoring lunch! Yummy!

Come over to learn and celebrate early Christmas with us!!  You will not be disappointed.  Free Registration !

COME AND SPEND A MEANINGFUL SATURDAY WITH FELLOW SINGAPOREANS !!
