1. Just to eat a nice meal & catch up with real people & friends outside worklife and boozy nightlife.

2. Opportunity to contribute our little bits to society while doing something we love – EATING. The Charity aspect is a supplementary & added bonus BUT NOT the main purpose of the group.

A restaurant just barely launched through a few soft opening trial runs, the awesome team behind The Smokeyard restaurant is the Fatface catering company started by two Taiwanese-American brothers in Beijing who "bring people closer together through food".

Now a big step up from catering events to owning their very own restaurants, the two brothers are opening up two simultaneous branches of their new restaurant concept, The Smokeyard, in Wudaokou and Sanlitun.

From its name, the restaurant specializes in their house ribs and signature steak, but their creative and varied menu also features everything from seafood salads, quesadillas, Hunan Marinara spaghetti and rice platters with Sambal Chicken, Thai Curry and Stewed Pork all rolled into one "ultimate" platter.

With brothers Eric and Hsu "FatBuddha" Li behind this passionate project, BJ FOoDiEs are delighted to invite the BJ FOoDiEs gang to show them our support!

The Smokeyard team have not only been generous enough to let the FOoDiEs gang take over their entire 1st floor dining area, they've also pulled out all the stops with a menu that ensures no one will leave unsatisfied!

With 7 different signature dishes to taste and enjoy, each FOoDiE will be treated to taste their signature mains - their House Ribs and Signature Steak and House Sliders! This is really quite the menu and we are delighted to share the Smokeyard's signature dishes with the Best FOoDiEs in Beijing!

As seating is limited, PLEASE RSVP in advance to lock in your spot and secure your seat for Sunday, July 26th!

July's Charity of Choice: Musana

With the vision to see rural communities in Uganda develop using sustainable solutions that give hope and dignity to the most vulnerable, Musana is led and run by community members and creates local businesses to generate income that will sustain all outreach projects. Musana can reach out to the community with long-lasting initiatives that cater towards the community’s needs. These initiatives include educating vulnerable children and orphans about God’s love while building them into knowledgeable leaders with integrity, empowering women through skill development and employment, and enlightening the community on how to live wholistic healthy lives. All projects are led, operated and held accountable by our local staff. Together, Musana’s staff, children and women act as ambassadors for transformation and rays of hope that will go out in their communities to “be the change”.

An inspiring organization, Musana will be introduced by Theresa Pauline, who is also founder of Taozi Tree Yoga which teaches women in Uganda how to sew the worlds best yoga mat bags. A self-sustainable solution to bringing vulnerable women out of extreme poverty in Uganda. www.taozitreeyoga.com
