AIA Shanghai -  Animal Shelter Competition

Monday, July 26th 2021 - Sunday, November 6th 2021

CALL FOR ENTRIES
 AIA Shanghai/Beijing is honored to announce an inaugural call for design entries to design pet shelters and amenities.  This event aims to be a fun activity that engages and connects the design community and beyond while raising funds for non-profit pet organizations contributing to a significant humanitarian cause. 

The competition is open to individuals, teams, and firms who would like to contribute their creativity and time to design and create an implementable architectural piece built, documented, exhibited, and auctioned to the highest bidder for a humanitarian cause in September and October.

The winning submissions will be built under the supervision of the teams and AIA Shanghai with the sponsor to ensure safety and usability to the future users of the shelters or items. 

JURY

Design Juries of the competition will be held in mid to late September at a venue to be confirmed later consisting of a jury made up of at least a distinguished design architect or educator, the builder and sponsor, the NPO animal organization to be announced. 

All submissions will be judged upon their creativity, feasibility, and safety by the jury and members.

Submission Deadline: October 6th, 2021

Jury and Exhibition: October 11th, 2021

Auction and Display: Early November (TBC)

The Registration Fee is 100 RMB for AIA Members and 200 RMB for Non-AIA Members

AWARDS:

Platinum Prize         5000 RMB & Built Prototype & AIA Shanghai Certificate

Gold        Prize        3000 RMB & Built Prototype & AIA Shanghai Certificate

Silver       Prize        2000 RMB & Built Prototype & AIA Shanghai Certificate

Note: All Monetary Prizes will be donated to the NPO organization(s), with the winning team be awarded a certificate and their own built prototype to be taken home.

SUBMISSIONS:

All design submissions must be safe and compliant with safety protocols for both humans and pets alike.  The submissions can include but are not limited to dog shelters, cat trees, etc... and the designer's or team's discretion. 

All Submissions must be sent to events@aiarchitectsh.org by October 6th, 2021, in a digital format consisting of the following:

1-2 Max. A0 Boards in PDF or Jpeg Formats

200 Word Description Explaining your Submission both on the A0 Boards and a separate Word Document

The winning entries will then be selected to work with the AIA Shangai committee and the builder to ensure that submissions are safe and adequately constructed.

Entries must conform to the following dimensions of the maximum measurement of 500 Width x 800 Height x 800 Length.

All submissions that exceed or do not conforming to the above requirements will be disqualified.
