Do you consider yourself to be a good citizen? Where did you base your answer on? Did you base it on how often you would run a red light, jaywalking or forgetting to pay your fines? Imagine that every citizen would be rated based on such behaviors and that this score would reflect how good of a citizen you were.
Well, no need for imagination here! In China, in certain areas, they already have such a score system in place. This system is better known as the Chinese Social Credit System.
Due to tremendous advancements in technological development, this system has been developed and enforced. Nevertheless, technological advancements also impact the current business environment. Concepts like e-commerce and e-marketing emerged, which has changed the way we behave as consumers as well as the way we market as retailers. The retailing industry has significantly been affected by digitalization.

Join us for our speakers’ event, in collaboration with the Dutch-Belgian Young Professionals to learn more about the business phenomenon in China! This speakers event is focused on how this credit system emerged and is implemented and discover how retailing has changed in China.

Meet our first guest speaker: Ed Sander, with a background in CRM and data-driven marketing. He is also known to be the co-author of the Dutch award-winning book Event Driven Marketing and its English follow-up Follow That Customer. After working in this area for various companies, Ed decided in 2010 to become an international volunteer and was sent to China from 2011 to 2013.

Our second guest speaker: Dominiek Pouwer, with years of experience in the Digital and eCommerce area. He has been working in China since 2006, where he has been running the TMO group, eCommerce Agency, since 2011.
