Dinner Conversation with Foreign Policy Magazine's David Wertime on China's Information Game

Information on China has never been more readily accessible, yet the relationship between China and the U.S. has become prone to false narratives and misunderstandings, says David Wertime, Foreign Policy's Senior Editor.  Join the Yale Club of Beijing for a dinner with David, who will speak about how information moves between the U.S. and China, how policy makers and average citizens should consume that information, and how existing Internet architecture could be used to raise the quality of information available about China.  He will also talk about his journey launching Tea Leaf Nation, the content and media analysis site that was bought in September 2013 by the Washington Post Company (now Graham Holdings), which owns FP.

David Wertime is a Senior Editor at Foreign Policy. He has discussed Chinese media and U.S.-China relations on outlets including BBC television, Al Jazeera English television, Public Radio International, and Voice of America, and spoken before audiences that include the U.S.-China Economic and Security Review Commission, the Wilson Center and the Taipei Economic and Cultural Representative Office. David is a Truman National Security Fellow, a member of the National Committee on U.S.-China Relations, and a ChinaFile Fellow at the Asia Society. Prior to joining FP, he co-founded Tea Leaf Nation, an independent media analysis company focused on China, later acquired by the Washington Post. Before that, he practiced corporate law in New York and Hong Kong. He was a Peace Corps Volunteer in Chongqing. David graduated from Yale College in 2001 and holds a law degree from Harvard University.
