Who are China’s hot new filmmakers? How does the Chinese film industry train and nurture young talent? You’re invited to a panel discussion about today’s movie scene from the inside, by Cary Cheng of Wanda Pictures and veteran executive producer Fu Jia of the “Young Shoots” incubator for young filmmakers.
MORE ABOUT THE PANEL:
FU JIA is an executive producer with over 20 years of experience in the film industry, Fu has worked for the American production companies Columbia Pictures and Sony Pictures, and is currently working with Beijing’s Taihe Entertainment Group and leading the “Young Shoots” Initiative with the China Film Group Corporation’s Young Director’s Program. Film Credits include: “In the Heat of the Sun,” “Big Shot’s Funeral,” “The Missing Gun,” “Warriors of Heaven and Earth,” “The Equation of Love and Death,” “Singing When We are Young,” “Kung Fu Yoga,” “Explosion.” Television Credits include: “Operation Moscow,” “Go Left for Romance, Go Right for Marriage.”
CARY CHENG was raised in Hong Kong and educated in Canada. Before joining Wanda Pictures he worked at Disney as Chief of Production, and has over 80 films in his filmography.
