AIA Shanghai Building Tour | The Shanghai Planetarium

The international competition-winning design celebrates the continuum of time and space: it is modern and forward-looking while at the same time presents a link to the past, mirroring both the rich history of Chinese astronomy and the future ambitions of China’s space exploration program.

1.            What are the three major architectural features that communicate astronomical content to visitors?                                                                                                                        

2.            How does the primary circulation path within the building speak to larger patterns of planetary movement?                                                                                                                          

3.            What are primary features of the project that support a 3 Star rating?                                                                                                                                                                   

4.            How does the building help a visitor to understand the concept of scale within the solar system? 

5.            How will the museum engage the larger community of Shanghai?
