The Club regularly organizes a variety of events throughout Shanghai, including monthly alumni mixers, lectures and talks, and other programs of interest to our members. Whether you are a long-term resident of Shanghai or just visiting, the Club is a great way to connect with fellow Harvard alumni.

BASAO Kombucha Workshop
An experiment of flavor quietly unfolds within the brew of tea, where active microbial communities, over several days, reach a harmonious balance of sweet and sour. This process results in a unique creation known as "kombucha."
The fermentation of kombucha is a captivating exploration of flavor, where elements like tea leaves, temperature, and time interact to create a unique taste profile. At the BASAO Kombucha Workshop, we encourage participants to take a break from their hectic schedules and dive into the hands-on process of crafting their own kombucha. By engaging with the microscopic world of microbes and experiencing the delightful flavors and transformations firsthand, participants gain a deeper understanding of kombucha and enhance their sensory appreciation and creative thinking. This immersive experience empowers participants to approach the world with clearer thinking and a more open mindset.
Visionary Shanghai — The Flavorful Journey and the “She Power”
Alongside the workshop, Winnie Wei, leader of BASAO's Kombucha project, will share her entrepreneurial journey with participants. Winnie, who has always been deeply committed to dietary health and has long been crafting her own fermented beverages, turned her passion into a thriving career. In addition, as an experienced yoga and Pilates practitioner, a certified yoga instructor, and a mother of three, Winnie has infused her multifaceted identity into her creative journey, drawing immense strength from these varied roles. This session offers a unique glimpse into how diverse experiences and personal passions can shape and empower a professional journey.
