ABOUT THE ARTIST

Javier Viver (Madrid, 1971) is an imagero (religious sculpture maker) by profession, sculptor, photographer and author of photobooks. His work debates between document and fiction as a means of the emergence of the invisible.

D.in Fine Arts from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid with the thesis Val del OmarLaboratory (2008), published the same year by Cameo in documentary format. To this end he spent two years researching at The PLAT Laboratory in Val del Omar beforebeing commissioned -together with Javier Ortíz-Echagüe- to install it at the Reina Sofía National Museum (2008).

He has exhibited his work internationally at the Lázaro Galdiano Museum, the Reina Sofía National Museum, Madrid; the Queens Museum of Arts, New York;
the University of Navarra Museum, Pamplona; Location One, New York; Recoleta, Buenos Aires; the NationalGallery of Modern and Contemporary Art in Rome, and the Conde Duque Cultural Centre in Madrid, among others.

His work forms part of important museums and collections such as the Reina Sofía National Museum, Madrid; Queens Museum of Arts, New York; Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Location One, New York; Caja Madrid Foundation; Botín Foundation, Santander; Swatch Group Collection, Shanghai; Art and Nature Center Beulas Foundation (CDAN), Huesca or the University of Navarra Museum, Pamplona, among others.
